How Samskar Electronics Private Limited collects, uses, shares, and protects your information, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
1. Information we collect
- Account: your mobile number, used to sign in via OTP.
- Orders: your name, delivery address, phone number, and email address (if provided) so we can process and deliver orders and send confirmations.
- Payments: handled by Razorpay. We receive a payment confirmation and reference, not your full card or bank details.
- Usage: basic technical data such as device and browser information to keep the site secure and working.
2. How we use your information
- To process orders, take payment, and arrange delivery.
- To send order confirmations and delivery updates by email, WhatsApp, or SMS.
- To provide customer support and respond to enquiries.
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
We process your data on the basis of your consent and to perform the order you place with us.
3. Children’s data and parental consent
Our products are made for children, but purchases and accounts are for adults (18+), that is, parents, guardians, schools, and institutions. Where we process any personal data relating to a child, we rely on the verifiable consent of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children through this website, and we do not use children’s data for tracking, profiling, behavioural monitoring, or targeted advertising.
4. Minni (AI) conversation data
For our AI companion Minni, we care about protecting children’s privacy. We only record the type or category of questions asked, for example “a question about stories” or “about good habits”, and only on an aggregate basisto understand overall usage and improve the product. We do not record who is interacting, and we do not store the personal details or the specific content of a child’s conversation.
5. Who we share your data with
We share personal data only where a service genuinely needs it to function. For anything optional, no data is shared. Our service providers (“sub-processors”) are:
- Razorpay — to process payments (receives payment details).
- Google Firebase — to sign you in by mobile OTP (receives your mobile number).
- Resend — to send order confirmation emails, only if you provide an email (receives your email and order summary).
- Meta (WhatsApp) — to send order confirmations, only if enabled (receives your phone number and order summary).
- Logistics / delivery partner — to deliver your order (receives your name, address, and phone number).
- AI provider (for Minni) — to power conversations. It receives only the category of question, in aggregate, and not a child’s identity or the personal content of a conversation.
- Authorities, where required by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Data processed outside India
Some of the providers above (for example Firebase, Resend, Meta, and the AI provider) may process data on servers located outside India. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps so your data continues to be handled with appropriate protection.
7. Your rights
Subject to law, you may ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct or update inaccurate data.
- Erase your data where it is no longer needed.
- Withdraw your consent at any time.
- Nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity.
To exercise any right, email contact@thesamskar.in. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out.
8. Data retention
We keep order and account records for as long as needed to provide our services and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Aggregate, non-identifying Minni usage data may be kept to improve the product.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. Sign-in uses OTP and secure session cookies, and payments are handled by Razorpay over encrypted connections. No method of transmission is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe, and we will act promptly and notify you where required in the event of a data breach.
10. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your cart. These are required for the site to function.
11. Marketing
We only send you order and delivery messages by default. If we ever send product updates, you can opt out at any time by contacting us.
